  • Is your skin flaky and fine lines look deeper?

Microdermabrasion was introduced into the beauty services 1990’s.

From the day we are born to the day we die the top layer of our skin dies every 24 days, unlike a snake that sheds is out layer of skin, we get a build-up of dead skin cells. This over the years gives us a dull & lifeless looking skin. Fine lines appear, pigmentation darkens, pores more open, scar tissues looks deeper, skin looks dull. We exfoliate or scrub the skin, these product just skim the surface.

The results an increase in the dermal layer, new collagen formation, renewed plumpness of the skin resulting in more youthful appearance.

Positive effects of microdermabrasion fines lines will diminish, acne or scar tissue soften, the epidermis will have a youthful glow & the dermal layer is stimulated which slows the aging.

Improvement can be seen after 1 microdermabrasion, a course of 3 is recommend over 3 weeks and then maintenance is 1 every 6 weeks

The 3 layers of the skin

Epidermis – dermis – subcutaneous layer.

Resurfacing treatments that create trauma to the skin have been replaced with the safe, rejuvenating, non – invasive approach of microdermabrasion & skin needling.

    Results from Peel and Microdermabrasion

Preserving youth – microdermabrasion has the distinction of bringing new approach to skin care. Its ability to gently yet effectively refine & smooth the skin surface while stimulating the elastin & collagen in the dermal layer in the deeper layers of the skin

One main key to its success is the micro massage action of the treatment. While the focus is on the epidermis, the suction used to prepare the skin and remove the crystals stimulates blood flow with its essential nutrients & oxygen to nourish the skin & fortify the cells.  The flushing movement generated below the surface by the lymph flow provides cleansing & balancing benefits.

All skin types will benefit from microdermabrasion, from 14 yrs. old with acne to women in her 70’s. Instant results are seen after one treatment; as we have released the dead skin cells the serums & treatments applied with have deeper penetration giving greater benefits.

Doing a facial without preparing the skin with a micro, the dead skin cells are still there, serums & treatments will only sit on top of the dead skin cells not giving result that women want

What do women want RESULTS & we want it NOW!

  • Personal Grooming is an investment.

I have the cutest dog Mr Benji he is now 17 months old and has been in my life since he was 8 weeks old. Being a Bichon Frise / Poodle x he visits the dog groomers every 6 weeks. He gets a shampoo/conditioning treatment, hair trim, nails cut, ears cleaned, blow dried. Pampered pooch!! An investment of $65 so his hair is neat, his skin won’t be itchy, nails overgrown and no ear mites.

    Mr Benji 8 weeks old.

When I pick Mr Benji after his 3 hours at the dog groomers, I rebook his next visit.

    Mr Benji now.

So this got me thinking “WOW does Woman rebook there grooming appointments before they walk out the door from her beauty visit?

Also do we truly know how much we invest into staying youthful and beautiful? I won’t go there as I would be on a fabulous holiday each year J with the investment into my skin, skincare and nails every 4 weeks.

Does a Woman maintain her grooming for herself or for her man? This is an interesting subject. I believe it be for ourselves first then to look amazing for our man.

In 2017 when I launched Door of Youth skincare, my vision was to see the product entering many doors of Australia. Here in 2019 we have many Woman that have been using Door of Youth Skincare for over 10 years.

I want every Woman to maintain a youthful looking skin and this starts with “home care” using a skincare range, having a morning & night routine. The night routine is SO important to cleanse the skin and feed it with Vitamin Rich Serum, so while sleeping it is rejuvenating.

    Vitamin Serums

A quick reminder, have you cleaned out your skincare draw or shelf. If you have had your skin care product for over 2 year’s time to bin it.

I hope you are investing in your skin, have you entered Door of Youth? Maybe it is time!!

  • I had an Eye Lift

As a Woman do you look in the mirror and wish you looked younger and realise my skin has been neglected over the years?

Many Women do this, we need to always see our beauty.

With 38 years in the beauty profession as a skin specialist, I was seeing my eye lids skin droopy making me look tired and older then my 59 years of age.

I have always looked after my skin with Microdermabrasion, Skin Needling and IPL Skin rejuvenation over the past 10 years. With my 60th Birthday only 6 months away, it was time to look at eye surgery.

Eyelid surgery (also called an eye lift or blepharoplasty), reduces bagginess from lower eyelids and removes excess skin from the upper eyelids. This surgery is usually done for cosmetic reasons. It’s also an effective way to improve sight in older people whose sagging upper eyelids get in the way of their vision

hooded or droopy eye is one that is set in a way that the natural crease is not readily seen. This eyeshade typically features a layer of skin that drops over the crease causing the lid to appear small. If you apply makeup the wrong way, it can make your eyelids appear even smaller.

There are many different possible causes of droopy eyelids, ranging from natural causes to more serious conditions. The levator muscle is responsible for lifting the eyelid. As you age, that muscle can stretch and, as a result, cause the eyelid to fall.

So it was time to research what was available, the procedure and downtime.

This is when I discovered Pelleve.

    What is Pelleve?

Radiofrequency Technology “Say goodbye to wrinkles without surgery”. The Pelleve treatment is a comfortable skin tightening treatment that takes less than an hour.

Pelleve is not a laser. Pelleve uses radio frequency to delivery non-surgical skin tightening treatments and minor surgical procedures. Each Pelleve handpiece is unique and fitted to conduct non-surgical or minor surgical treatments.

    Pelleve – Surgical

For minor surgical procedures, the Pelleve system provides high-frequency radio waves into soft tissues for the purpose of making a very fine and precise surgical incisions. It’s surgery with NO scalpel for the gentle removal of moles, warts, skin tags, facial vessels and dropping eyelids or unwanted bags under your eyes. A topical or local anaesthesia is often used and the procedure may take only minutes and will be performed in the doctor’s surgery. The results are excellent and consistent and there will be immediate improvement in your appearance with little or no bruising or scarring.

How does the Pelleve RF surgery differ from traditional surgery?

Because RF uses radio waves instead of scalpel, very fine, precise incisions can be made. Only the tissue cells adjacent to the wire electrode are affected, and are vaporised instead of being cut through with manual pressure, as with a scalpel. Scalpel and scissors crush tissue, whereas radio waves can coagulate blood vessels as they make fine cuts, resulting in minimal bleeding, bruising and swelling.

Debbie’s Eye Lift from first visit.

I picked up the phone and made the appointment to see Dr ***** for my EYE LIFT surgery. Wow was I really going to do this?? Yes I am!

The day came Monday 27th May for my visit and I was nervous and also saying to myself “Am I worthy of this” will share more about self-love in a blog. Also it was the day after the reading of my late mothers will and wasn’t feeling that great.

Dr ***** was welcoming, he explained the procedure, penciled the area were the skin would be removed, showed me in a mirror by lifting up the eye lid and WOW I will look so different.

I then spoke with the Admin Lady, in more detail of how long the procedure, viewed some before and after picture and that was it booked in Wednesday June 26th at 9.30am.

The day arrived and Debbie C lady friend picked me up as no driving a car after procedure. I have to say was nervous and did some EFT (emotional freedom tapping) before and during the procedure.

    This is the process:

    • Before pictures taken
    • Lay on bed relaxing with ice pack on eyes for 10/15 minutes (head freeze)
    • Dr **** came in pencils the area were skin to be removed and local anaesthesia
    • Then the procedure started

I felt nothing, I could smell a little of the burn of the skin, then the internal stitches done on left eye. The same procedure on right eye, WOLLAH it was all over. The lovely nurse who held my hand throughout the procedure, placed the dressing on my eyes, then more ice pack for 10 mins. The whole procedure from start to end was 90 minutes.

I left the surgery with my sun glasses on and bought some yummy cakes to have with our coffee when I got home. Debbie C arrived to take me home and we enjoyed our cakes and coffee.

The key to speedy recovery is ICE packing the eye every hour for 10 minutes and that is what I did. The next day I drove myself to the doctor’s surgery to have the dressings removed and antiseptic cream applied. I keep the ice packs up every couple of hours and antiseptic cream. The hardest thing was sleeping on my back for 3 days!

Day 2: I was at the Door of Youth Skin Clinic attending to my clients. My eye were swollen, yet very impressed with how they were feeling and looking.

Day 3: I had the day at home, ice packing regularly and antiseptic cream.

Day 4: I was at the Door of Youth Skin Clinic attending to clients and out doing the normal things.

Day 5: Sunday I had a relaxing day at home, reading magazines, listening to music just chilling.

Day 6: I had a Led Light treatment to assist with the healing, started to use cream for bruising under the eyes, which was gone in 24 hours.

Day 7: Went out for dinner and looking good!

Day 8: Normal working day at Door of Youth Skin Clinic

Day 9: One week check-up with Dr ***** and he was very happy with the results. The staff amazed with the no bruising and AMAZING results in opening my eyes. Today I now start using the scar cream and will for 1 to 2 weeks.

Day 12: Drove to Brisbane and no issues with eyes, thought they may have felt tired after the drive.

Day 13: I am so happy with the results, sleeping on my side as normal, wore a little makeup on the weekend. Eyes are healing very well with some small bruising on right eyelid.

In 6 week’s time I will see Dr ****, he said this is when I will see the TRUE results.

Here are some pictures of the adventure.

  • WHAT DO WOMEN WANT when it comes to skincare & beauty services?

Having been in the beauty profession spanning 38 years I have seen so much change and advancement in Dermal Therapy Treatment. When I attained my beauty diploma back in 1981 at a young age of 21, there was not the high tech machines for skin rejuvenation or microdermabrasion. We used a steamer and your hands to cleanse and massage the muscles of the face. I remember learning “firmo lift” this is a 20 minute massage that is part the signature facial on offer today at Door of Youth Skin Clinic.

How did I get into this AMAZING profession??

When I was a teenager I had pimples all over my face, for some reason the researcher in me went to the library (YES no internet back then) and started making facial masks in my mums kitchen with wheat germ, honey and egg white. The wheat germ was to draw out the pimples, honey to soften scar tissue and egg white held it all together and firmed the skin!!

You can see why in 2007 I launched a Skin Care Range of products. I started with 3 products and today 12 years on Door of Youth Skincare has 5 skincare products and 3 vitamin serums.

In 2019 there seems to be a BEAUTY CLINIC on each corner, all offering the same to draw clients in.

There is also a war of pricing, and I wonder is it the cheap PRICES what WOMEN want when it comes to their SKIN or the years of experience the Beauty Therapist has??

My PASSION is keeping the SKIN and Body Youthful with a NON TOXIC Lifestyle, this starts with Natural Organic Skincare and Dermal Therapy Facial Treatments.

Today I want to share with you the benefits of SKIN NEEDLING!

    Skin Needling

    Studded Pen Cartridge

Is an advanced dermal treatment that is used to stimulate fast collagen production and renewal, resulting in smoother and more youthful looking skin. Skin Needling is the perfect treatment for treating fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars, skin texture and an overall rejuvenation of the skin.

The procedure involves the use of an automated pen studded with microneedles as small as 0.1mm in diameter. It creates numerous micro-punctures through the skin with minimal damage to the upper epidermal layer, but microscopic injury to the deeper dermal layer. The injury and minor bleeding trigger a “wound-healing” cascade in the skin. This results in increased collagen and elastin (elastic fibers) production and some degree of repair.

Benefits: – Reduces fine lines, treats dull skin, enlarged pores, loss of elastin, nasio-labial lines and smokers lines.  Skin needling is very safe and heals quickly while preserving the epidermis.

    Dermal Pen

I recommend a microdermabrasion 5 days before to buff the dead skin cells off before we commence the skin needling treatment.

RESULTS when will they be seen? Depending on the age or client and skin condition the next day the skin will be look different. It takes up to 28 days for the rejuvenating, healing process. Then we do the treatment again to achieve the ultimate results!!

For the optimum results 4 treatments are required 4 to 6 weeks apart.

A QUESTION many women ask me is ‘HAVE YOU HAD BOTOX’ No I haven’t had Botox. How I have maintained my skin over the past 10 years is with Skin Needling / IPL Skin Rejuvenation plus microdermabrasions.

I invest into my skin and PAY to have my dermal treatments done at clinic at Southport. LIKE many ladies on a BUDGET, I pay for 4 treatments upfront for a discount!!

  • By age 40, we have lost 10%-20% of our collagen.

As a baby our skin is plump, firm, smooth and rosy, thanks to all of that collagen in our dermis (middle layer of the skin) Our body stops producing collagen in our mid to late 20’s. Then at age 30 our collagen production starts to decline and that is when we start to see those fine lines and wrinkle on our skin.

After age 30, our collagen level drops 1%-2% every year.

By age 40, we have lost 10%-20% of our collagen.

By 50, we are down 20%-40%.

By the time we hit 60 we need help!

  • Do our panties make a difference to the mindset?

Time to tidy up the lingerie draw? I did mine the other day, the old, worn, black & black undies are now gone in the bin. Time for a shopping trip to get new boy short panties with lace, and BRIGHT colours.

DID YOU KNOW THAT THE COLOUR OF OUR PANTIES CAN change our mindset? True!

    Panties.

Like the air we breathe and the water we drink, underwear is a part of life so ubiquitous that it often goes unnoticed. Don’t let another year pass being unsexy and wearing “Bridget Jones panties” every day— especially considering 99 percent of you are wearing them right now. And if not, good on you!

Colours influence our day from when we start getting dressed from our underwear to what we see when we look in the mirror. Have you discovered that when you are feeling down and tired you are drawn to wear the dark colours and that outfit we don’t like?  When a woman has her periods and feeling blue why do we always wear the frumpy outfit that makes us feel 10 times worst. This is when we add COLOUR to what we are wearing and even down to the underwear. What type of day do you want? Wear the colour to inspire you!

    RED. Physical
Positive: Physical courage, strength, warmth, energy, basic survival, ‘fight or flight’, stimulation, masculinity, excitement.
Negative: Defiance, aggression, visual impact, strain.

    BLUE. Intellectual.
Positive: Intelligence, communication, trust, efficiency, serenity, duty, logic, coolness, reflection, calm.

Negative: Irrationality, fear, emotional fragility, depression, anxiety, suicide.

    GREEN. Balance
Positive: Harmony, balance, refreshment, universal love, rest, restoration, reassurance, environmental awareness, equilibrium, peace.
    Negative: Boredom, stagnation, blandness, enervation.

    VIOLET. Spiritual
Positive: Spiritual awareness, containment, vision, luxury, authenticity, truth, quality.
    Negative: Introversion, decadence, suppression, inferiority.

    ORANGE.

    Negative: Oppression, coldness, menace, heaviness.

Let’s talk about the underwear! I can see you cringing as you read this. NO one sees my underwear so why worry about it! It is not WHO sees your underwear it is HOW it makes you feel when you wear that nice matching underwear when you are feeling so BLUE!

Panties come in all shapes and styles: G- strings, boy pants, high cut thigh, frilly, lace, lace trim, high wasted cheeky, hipsters, bikini and many more.

Let’s imagine you having date No 1, 2 or 3 with that hot man, and you are hoping TONIGHT IS THE NIGHT, tell me what underwear will you wear?

Come on be honest with me, you would wear the matching bra and panties or go out and buy new ones for the date.

We all know of the movie “Bridget Jones” and how she has the beige big girl panties on. Well that is OK they don’t have to be beige what about RED or YELLOW or PINK.

Ladies I feel it is time to start wearing sexy underwear every day.

Here is the challenge for the next 21 days every day wear that sexy under wear and also throw out that old and ugly robe, buy a sexy one in your favourite colour.

What style of Panties do you like?

Thongs: Flaunt revealing coverage in back and body-hugging fabrics for a smooth, line-free look that works great under form-fitting clothes.

Bikini: Narrow sides and a hip-level waistband give this panty a classic, universally flattering shape that’s essential for every wardrobe.

Hipster: An everyday favourite, this low-rise panty features wider sides for minimal to moderate coverage.

Brief: The classic comfort panty, briefs have a higher rise and provide excellent seat coverage.

Boy short: A cheeky take on fitted boxer shorts, these panties deliver a body-hugging fit with a longer leg for extra coverage under skirts and dresses.

High cut: This high-cut panty gives legs a long, lean look while also offering moderate to full coverage in back.
