Founder of Door of Youth Skincare, Debbie Majella after 40 years on the Gold Coast, has left the skyline of high-rise buildings for the black velvet sky with stars that shine like diamonds in the country.
Being a country lady at heart born in Toowoomba, she new it was time to move to a simple life in the country. Smell the fresh air, no traffic lights, be part of a small community about 3 hours from the Gold Coast.
“Having an online skincare business, we can take the online shop to any part of Australia. Being an Australian owned and made natural organic skincare, it was time for me to return to the beauty of the country. I have been visiting the town of Stanthorpe for 15 + years so it was an area that was calling me.
The Gold Coast has lost its sparkle for me and searching online for land I discovered a lovely place called Glen Aplin, 10.8 kilometres from Stanthorpe. In February 2021 I drove to the land at Glen Aplin and was a landowner by the end of that week.
I choose land over an established house and land as I wanted to move a ‘country cottage’ to the land. There are homes that are on stumps and get be moved. I discovered a 1950 country cottage from David Wright Removalist and loved the house from the day I saw it online.
It has been a challenging journey getting all in order from soil test, survey of the land, fence boundaries, council approvals, plumbers for sewerage, water tanks, power poles and much more.
The best part has been travelling out to Glen Aplin, meeting country folk and forming relationships that will be everlasting. There is a different vibration to country folk and city slickers.”
The house only needs minor reno’s, all going to plan will be living in the house end of November 2021.
